A dear friend of Donna and I, Michele, was diagnosed with cancer 6 months ago. Michele is a wonderful woman who loves to knit and share her love of knitting with others. Cancer has been really hard on her these last few months. She’s been through chemo and is now going through radiation therapy and it’s really tough on her and her family. Donna and I have decided that we wanted to knit Michele a blanket knit out of sock yarn squares. This is where I need your help in knitting squares for this blanket.
Here are the details:
We’ve decided to go with squares knit out of this pattern by Knit me a River out of superwash fingering weight yarn. Each square should block out to about 9″. Michele likes warm colors so we thought that the yarns used should be in the warm tones of the colors. To give you an idea, here are the colorways I picked out of my leftover sock yarn stash that I thought would be appropriate.
We’d like to be able to give her this blanket at Thanksgiving, November 27, so if we could get all the squares in by November 15 that would give us time to seam them all together. If you’d like to send a square, or two, just write a comment and I’ll send you the address where to send the square(s). If you have any questions feel free to leave a comment too! : )
I want to thank all of you who will help out in advance on behalf of Michele, I know that she will love her blanket.

I’m in. I’ll go through my sock stash later today.
I would love to participate and can do at least two squares.
I’ll knit a square. Let me know where to send. S
What a fabulous thought. I’d love to contribute.
As a 7-year cancer survivor, count me in…I’m in for at least 2, maybe 3 squares…I’ll go thru my leftover sock yarn tonight.
I love knitting for others. Have lots of sock yarn too. Please send me address for sending you some squares. God bless you for thinking of this project for your friend.
I found some nice Fleece Artist Jester left over from a pair of socks I made for my daughter, and I made a fun and colorful square for Michele’s blanket with it. Please let me know where to send it. My heart goes out to her so much.
Thanks,
Nathanne

I would love to knit a square…
Hi!
As a breast cancer survivor myself, I understand the mental stress this can cause not only for one self, but also for the entire family. I would be honored to knit a square for her blanket…what a lovely gesture. This blanket will be filled with love Just give me an address as to where to mail my square(s).
Sandy
Count me in! I’ve lost many people to cancer, as well as having family members and friends be survivors, so this is a cause near and dear to my heart. I don’t know Michele, but with this disease, there are no strangers – only friends.
Sign me up – I will make a square.
put me in for at least two and maybe a couple more depending on my speed. my heart goes out as my mother was diagnosed 25 years ago and is alive and very well–keep up the hope.
I’ll make at least one square… I’ll try for two!!
I have a question for you…What yarn and color is that at the bottom right of your picture above.
Where do we find the address to send the blocks???
